Pete began his musical career playing in and around his hometown of Edinburgh in Scotland before moving to West Yorkshire in the 1980‘s to study guitar full-time at the City of Leeds College of Music. Since then he has held a variety of  academic positions within the Higher Education music sector and was a senior member of staff at LCM in Leeds for many years.


Alongside his teaching activities, Pete has contributed to numerous recordings and played with a large variety of ensembles ranging from Jazz to Popular Music. His most recent musical activities include recording an album with singer/songwriter Saffron Byass, which was subsequently performed live at the Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival in 2011 and is now about to begin a series of guitar workshops and masterclasses in the Midlands scheduled for later this year.


He is a former student of the late US jazz educator Charlie Banacos and has also studied with a variety of other well known musicians both in the UK and abroad.

Pete Sklaroff is a UK based professional guitarist and music educator who has been active as a musician since the early 1980‘s and this website offers you the opportunity to find out about his current musical activities and hear some of his recorded work. He is the former Assistant Head of Music and Head of Jazz Studies at Leeds College of Music and now works freelance as a professional performer, session musician and music educator/guitar tutor in the UK. He resides near Halifax in West Yorkshire.

        

Pete is a highly respected and experienced guitar teacher and currently offers both private 1-1 tuition within the West Yorkshire region and also correspondence lessons over the internet.                                            


Pete’s playing has drawn praise from many well known musicians ranging from the legendary rock singer David Coverdale through to fingerstyle acoustic master Adrian Legg.
